Instructor Bio – Christine Aiken

 Christine has been dancing since the age of 3 years, studying tap, ballet, modern dance and highland. At the age of 10 she won the Scottish Championship at Cowal, and continued to compete into her early twenties.

 

At age 16 she began teaching and her school is now more than 45 years old. At present, Christine is a pastVice-President of the BATD, Chairman of the Association’s Highland Committee and member of the Stage and Ballet Committee.  She has been for many years a delegate of the BATD on  both the Technical Committee, SOBHD meetings and the judges committee of the SOBHD.  Christine is an Examiner with the BATD and also SOBHD Adjudicator.

Pat was born in Scotland and emigrated with her young family to Canada in 1974. She danced full-time at the Lillian McNeil School of Dance in Glasgow and received her Highland Dance training with Elsbeth Strathearn. She earned her Advanced RAD in Ballet and SDTA, BATD, ISTD in Tap and Modern Dance.

Pat runs a renowned dance studio in Niagara-on-the-Lake, ONtario. Her dancers have won numerous championships in Canada, the United States, Australia, and Scotland, including the World Junior and Juvenile Championshi Titles at Cowal. For the past 20 years, Pat has judged many prestigious championships and festivals throughout the world, foremost being the World and Commonwealth Championships. Pat recently received her qualifications as a Highland Dance Examiner. Her other professional honor include being a Lifetime Member of SDTA, a Fellow SDTA and a member of the SOBHD Judges Panel. Pat lives with her husband, Jim, in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario.
